The Way Home.
I used to travel in search of answers. Today, I travel to return to a place within myself where I no longer need to prove anything.
The Intention
NestExplore is an invitation to experience travel as a gateway to inner exploration. Not to become someone else, but to reconnect with what already exists within you.
I believe that many of the inner capacities we long for - inner safety, curiosity, compassion, creativity, presence or trust - cannot be forced into existence. They emerge naturally when we create enough space to slow down, listen deeply, and reconnect with ourselves, with nature, and with the present moment.
Rather than offering answers, I seek to create the conditions in which this quiet unfolding can take place.
How NestExplore Came to Life?
The idea for Nest Explore began to emerge during a journey whose only intention was to take care of myself. Not because I had decided to do so intellectually, but because my personal and professional life were asking it of me. I had reached a point of mental, intellectual and emotional exhaustion.
Beyond the intensity of everything I had been going through, the winter in northern Sweden had been particularly harsh, with several weeks of temperatures hovering around –30°C. By the time I left for southern France and Italy, I was deeply tired.
During the first few days, I stayed alone in a small mountain village where I had rented an Airbnb. On my second day, I went for a walk around the mountain you see in this photograph. Very quickly, I sensed that something was happening.
It did not feel as though the mountain was speaking to me with words, but rather through my heart and through the sensations in my body. As I stood there, I felt an immense softness. A feeling of warmth, tenderness and gentleness, as though the mountain was inviting me to rest within it. It seemed to radiate love, compassion, balance and harmony.
At times, I even had the feeling that the mountain was alive, as though it had a heart and a spine of its own. In the presence of this mountain, I discovered a deep inner sense of peace. A space where it became possible to welcome my emotions exactly as they were - constantly moving, changing and impermanent - without trying to control them or make them disappear.
Looking back, I now understand that this encounter became one of the founding moments of Nest Explore. It allowed me to reconnect with an inner space of gentleness, kindness and compassion towards myself. I believe this encounter was possible because I wasn't looking for anything in particular. I was simply available and open to the sensations that emerged .
When I returned home, I did not try to recreate the experience. I simply allowed it time to settle. Gradually, this inner space became naturally accessible, like a nest. A place I can return to, one that allows me to explore safely. Nest Explore was born from this experience.
A Different kind of knowing
When I walk through a forest or a garden, I rarely know the names of the plants around me. I cannot tell you which species they belong to, nor what properties they are said to have. When I try to remember them, I often forget them except from the most common species.
Yet I often find myself drawn to one particular tree, a flower, by its shape, its color or a scent. I have learned to trust that attraction without needing to understand why.
For a long time, I believed that understanding always came first. That if I knew enough, I would naturally change. Travelling and walking in nature taught me something different. Sometimes, change begins long before we have words for it. It begins with a sensation. A landscape. A silence. A feeling of being unexpectedly at home…
In other words, books helped me understand many things. Nature helped me experience them.
What may reveal itself
Every journey is different, and there is no expected outcome. Yet, when we slow down, reconnect with nature and make space for our own experience, we may notice subtle changes such as:
a deeper sense of inner safety
greater ease with uncertainty
renewed curiosity and wonder
a gentler relationship with ourself
a greater capacity to welcome emotions
renewed creativity
a stronger connection between our inner and outer worlds
These are not outcomes to pursue. They are ways of being that often reveal themselves when we create the space for them to emerge.
My role
I don't have the answers to your life, and I don't believe anyone else does.
My role is to create the conditions for your own exploration. To ask questions, hold space and walk beside you as you discover your own path.
My role is to create thoughtful experiences, ask meaningful questions and walk alongside you while you explore your own path.
I don't walk ahead of you. I walk beside you.
Audrey.
